“Switched”

Welcome to this “improved” version of the blog. If you’ve never been here before this is my first post using WordPress. As I write this I have not changed from the default theme or done any changes with plugins. In fact I have done nothing with it what so ever except import from the blogger version.

I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with this exactly. I mean I could just cut off the archives from before January 1st this year and give the blog a new a name with an albeit strange URL, some-what starting over again. Perhaps leaving the blogger version still up I don’t know. I would want to keep the archives in existence at least though since I’m fairly certain (but haven’t checked yet) that all that archive is now in a SQL database which is definitely a good thing for future reference or what-have-you.

One thing though apparently all those hand-written titles of the blogger entries have no way of registering as actual titles. So just about all my archived entries are labeled now as no title.  Well I guess I can get over that. One task I do possibly have ahead of me, at least for the entries since January 1st, is figuring out if I can tag and categorize the posts.  I think that might help a bit…with….traffic? And organization, finding information, whatever.

I did actually purchase a WordPress book. I went to a Borders, picked up a bunch and took them to the cafe, along with the laptop, to look them up and see which ones got the best reviews. In the end I decided on a recipes styles book rather than a beginning-to-end tutorial one that I may or may not ever finish anyway. I mean I think they all cover the same material, just in a  different format. And I think I’m better suited to the recipe variety.

Other than that I did go for another five mile walk/jog today and actually simply woke up early this morning without much effort. That may have had something to do with my falling asleep around probably 9:30 last night. This was improved over after 12am which has been a bad habit for so long. By which I mean I lay in bed wide awake for like two hours. But not this time. This time I was awake if not up at 7:30am. And doing a walk by around 11am. I could have g one earlier but I now enjoy waking up whilst watching ToS. And as I’ve said before I think I see what made this show have the rabid following it did in the sixties and 70s. I watched an episode called I, Mudd. It was kind of a sequel to a first season episode featuring this Mudd character. This one though involved a whole colony of androids. Their mindset was actually border-line that of the Borg for the later series. I assume that was on purpose on the part of the latter series.

I also re-organized the schedule I created on my pen board so that a specific designated “todo” was on Sunday by itself. Maybe I’m just making it too hard but apparently it’s not that easy to make the schedule come out exactly the way I want it to. In any case the “PHP/MySQL/work on wordpress task is now by itself on Sundays.  I just wanted to make sure I had that on their enough I could do all PHP/SQL on of those days and all WordPress-related stuff another day.  And it is nice I think to have a weekend day with just the one task as opposed to two. Yes, I realize I have a lot of free time anyway but I am actually sometimes busy during the week when four or more recruiters are calling me separately about different jobs (for all this has done for me).

And before I forget, since I just heard it, there is apparently a free backup solution called Easus Todo Backup that does really fancy things like image-based backups that integrates with WindowsPE and allows for mounting of back up images as drives. Having just heard about it with the past hour I haven’t tried it yet. But it’s that last feature especially, the mounting of backups as a drive, that really got my attention. The PE thing is also really great but then Ghost32 can do that. And the Ghost images can be accessed post-backup but only with Ghost Explorer, not as a drive. Of course, that’s with pre-ghost 10. Don’t have any idea with the latest could be all about. Anyway, I had to write that down for future reference, see if it’s any good.

Haven’t made any progress on the HTA but I did research hosting the code at Google Code. There’s certainly not a LOT of applications hosted there but I think it will probably be adequate for my needs. At the very least it will show me something of hosted source repositories and stuff like that.

I always think of something I have to write about in the blog during the day and and always seems like I forget by the time I finally go to write. Oh well, I’ll have to think of it again later. I think I’m going to end this hear.
